Airports

New York is served by three main airports:

1. John F. Kennedy International Airport:  Located 15 miles by highway from midtown Manhattan, JFK has seven operating airline terminals serving nearly 48 million passengers per annum (2007). The high-speed, light-rail service AIRTRAIN JFK links the airport to New York City and beyond. AirTrain connects to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and the New York City subway and bus lines. Jetblue Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, British Airlines and Air France are among the largest airlines serving JFK airport.

2. La Guardia Airport: Located in the northern part of Queens County on Long Island in the City of New York. La Guardia Airport primarily serves destinations within the US and Canada, as well as service to Aruba, the Bahamas and Bermuda. It is the smallest of New York's three main commercial airports, serving just over 23 million passengers in 2008. US Airways, Delta, Delta Connect, American Airlines and Continental Airlines are among the largest operators at La Guardia airport.

3. Newark Liberty International Airport: Located only 14 miles from Manhattan, Newark Liberty International Airport is New York's second largest airport serving just under 36m passengers in 2006. Continental Airlines is by far the largest operator at the airport, with Delta Airlines, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways all serving the airport.
